Anti-Cheat Methodology
How we detect and remove cheaters from ranked play. Every detection vector documented. Every penalty tier explained. No black boxes.
THE ANTI-CHEAT PROMISE
“Cronus Zen scripts, lag switches, stat fraud, and win trading have ruined competitive 2K for years because nobody built the detection systems to catch them. We did. Every method on this page is live in production and enforced by code, not moderator discretion.”
What We Detect
Cronus Zen / Script Devices
Auto-green scripts produce input patterns that human thumbs cannot replicate. Shot-timing distributions from scripted controllers cluster unnaturally tight around the perfect-release window. We flag players whose green percentage exceeds statistical thresholds relative to their build archetype and difficulty settings.
- Green-window clustering outside human variance
- Identical input cadence across consecutive possessions
- Archetype-adjusted shot success rates above 99th percentile
Lag Switching
Lag switches create artificial latency spikes that freeze opponents mid-play. We monitor connection stability across match segments. A player whose latency is stable at 30ms for 95% of the game but spikes to 800ms exclusively during opponent possessions gets flagged.
- Asymmetric latency spikes correlated with opponent scoring runs
- Connection stability drops only during defensive possessions
- Pattern recurrence across multiple matches with different opponents
Stat Manipulation / Screenshot Fraud
Every stat line submitted through our OCR pipeline runs through impossible-stat detection. The engine checks for negative values, single-game outliers (80+ points, 35+ rebounds, 30+ assists), minutes exceeding regulation without overtime, and cumulative stat ceilings. Flagged lines trigger an automated integrity case.
- Points, rebounds, or assists exceeding single-game amateur ceilings
- Negative values in any stat category
- Cumulative stat totals above 120 (pts + reb + ast)
- Minutes played exceeding 48 without overtime flag
Win Trading / Score Collusion
Win trading shows up in score patterns. Round-number shutouts (100-0, 80-0), double-zero scores, and identical scorelines between the same teams within a 14-day window all trigger automated flags. The collusion detector cross-references prior match history to catch repeat offenders.
- Round-number shutouts where the losing team scores zero
- Identical score pairs between the same teams in recent history
- Double-zero scores (no game was played)
Stat Farming / Rapid Submission
Submitting 20+ stat lines in a 6-hour window is physically impossible at the pace of real 2K games. The rapid-farm detector monitors submission velocity per player and flags accounts that hit personal season highs 3+ times in a single session. Both trip-wires feed directly into the integrity case queue.
- More than 20 stat lines submitted in a 6-hour window
- 3+ personal season-high performances in a single session
- Submission cadence faster than one match every 20 minutes
Smurf / Ghost Accounts
Every player must link a verified Xbox or PSN account. The verification system cross-references console IDs to detect duplicate accounts. Creating a second account to dodge a ban, manipulate matchmaking, or game the draft results in a permanent ban on all linked accounts.
- Multiple Check Up profiles tied to the same console ID
- New accounts created shortly after a ban on the same IP or device
- Draft-eligible accounts with no match history from prior seasons
How Detection Works
Every flag follows the same four-step pipeline. No shortcuts, no skipping steps, no “trust me bro” moderation.
Automated Flag
Detection functions run on every stat submission, match result, and connection log. When a threshold trips, the system opens an IntegrityCase with the raw evidence attached. No human involvement at this stage.
Evidence Review
A second automated pass re-evaluates the flagged data against the player's full history. Context matters: a 60-point game from someone averaging 55 is different from a 60-point game from someone averaging 12. The system adjusts its confidence score accordingly.
Penalty Assignment
Penalties scale with severity and history. First-time stat anomalies trigger a warning and manual screenshot re-submission. Confirmed manipulation, Cronus Zen detection, or repeat offenses escalate to suspensions or permanent bans. Financial penalties (forfeited entry fees, prize pool exclusion) apply to competitive integrity violations.
Player Notification
The flagged player receives a notification with the specific violation, the evidence that triggered it, and the assigned penalty. No vague "you have been flagged" messages. You see exactly what tripped the wire and why.
What Happens When You Get Caught
Penalties scale with severity and history. Nobody gets permabanned for a single stat anomaly.
WARNING
WARNINGFirst-time anomaly. Stat line flagged for re-submission. No suspension.
SUSPENSION
SUSPENSIONConfirmed violation or repeat warning. 7 to 30-day suspension from ranked play.
PERMANENT BAN
PERMANENT BANConfirmed Cronus Zen, screenshot fraud, or third integrity violation. All season stats voided. Entry fee forfeited.
Our Commitment
Transparency
This page exists because no other 2K league publishes their anti-cheat methodology. You deserve to know what we scan for, how we scan for it, and what happens when something trips. We publish the methodology. We keep the exact thresholds private so cheaters cannot calibrate around them.
False Positive Protection
Every detection uses percentile-based thresholds, not flat cutoffs. The system compares your performance against your own history and your build archetype, not against an arbitrary ceiling. First-time flags produce warnings, not bans. The appeals process is automated and available to everyone within 48 hours.
Continuous Updates
Cheaters adapt. So does the detection engine. We update detection models between seasons based on new exploit patterns from the 2K community. When a new cheat method surfaces, we build the detector and ship it. This page gets updated when new detection vectors go live.
Common Questions
How do you detect Cronus Zen specifically?
Shot-timing analysis. Human players have natural variance in their release timing. Scripted controllers produce tight clusters around the perfect-release window that fall outside the expected distribution for any skill level. We analyze timing data relative to build archetype and difficulty settings.
What if I'm just really good and get flagged?
The system accounts for skill. Detection thresholds are percentile-based, not flat cutoffs. A player with a 70% green rate who has been consistent at that level all season will not get flagged. A player who jumps from 30% to 95% overnight will. Every flag includes a confidence score, and low-confidence flags get extra review.
Can founders or admins override a detection?
No. The enforcement covenant applies to anti-cheat the same way it applies to rules. No human has the authority to override routine enforcement, including any of the four co-founders. If the system flags a founder, the same process runs.
How do appeals work?
Within 48 hours of a penalty, you can file an appeal through the in-app Appeals queue. Appeals are reviewed by a second automated pass that re-evaluates the same data plus any new evidence you upload (stream VODs, controller cam footage, etc.). The appeal decision is final.
Do you share detection details publicly?
We publish the methodology (this page), not the exact thresholds. Publishing exact numbers would let cheaters calibrate their scripts to stay just under the wire. The detection categories, signal types, and enforcement pipeline are fully transparent. The specific cutoff values are not.
What data do you collect for anti-cheat?
Stat lines from OCR submissions, match scores, submission timestamps, and connection stability metrics during matches. We do not install kernel-level drivers, monitor your desktop, or access anything outside the game session data you submit to the platform.
League Rules
Anti-cheat enforcement is one part of the broader rulebook. See the full list of rules, penalties, and the enforcement covenant that applies to every player and founder equally.
